High school journalists, newspapers honored

High school journalists and newspapers were honored for excellence at the 32nd Annual Hawai'i State High School Journalism Awards banquet Thursday at the Pagoda Hotel.

This year, 37 public and private schools throughout the state participated in the competition, sponsored by the Hawai'i Publishers Association in conjunction with The Honolulu Advertiser and the Honolulu Star-Bulletin.

Farrington High School's newspaper, The Governor, was given the 2001 Overall State Award. The Governor's co-editors are Cherry Cachero and Michael Maurice. Ellen Manago is the publication's adviser.
