Family fun at museum

By Zenaida Serrano Espanol

Bishop Museum wants you.

Wants you, that is, to attend "Family Sunday Island Style — Military Day," 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. next Sunday at the museum for a day of fun activities and a chance to learn about our military.

The event, part of the Chamber of Commerce of Hawai'i's 16th annual Military Appreciation Week festivities, will give visitors a chance to get an up-close look at a Humvee (a large, military multi-purpose jeep), witness a military robot demonstration or have their faces painted camouflage style.

Other attractions include the University of Hawai'i's famous green, cloned mice, a Tsunami Wave Slide, entertainment by Dita Holifield and Ellsworth Simeona Jr., and food booths galore.

Residents and military with valid ID pay $3 per person, $10 for a family of four (two adults, two children ages 4-12); nonresidents, $14.95 per person. Free admission coupons are available to anyone through AIG Hawai'i offices and JN Chevrolet, Cycle City, Papa John's Pizza stores, and military ticket outlets. Call 848-4160 for information.
