Tip-Off
Kai to perform June 9 at Blaisdell Concert Hall

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Editor

Kai, billed as America's first Asian band to cross over into the musical mainstream, will perform at 7 p.m. June 9 at the Blaisdell Concert Hall.

The Geffen Records group, based in San Francisco, takes its name from a shorthand version of kaibigan, a Tagalog word meaning harmony between individuals and music. The five-member band, which has opened shows for All 4 One and Sheryl Crow, is known for such hit tunes as "Say You'll Stay" and "It Might Be You," and the concert here is part of its current tour, "The Promised," titled after its new album.

Also on the bill: Forte, the Beaters, Simply Sly and Nicole Doran.

Tickets: $30, $25, at the Blaisdell box office and Ticket Plus outlets. Reservations: www.Tickets.com or Ticketplushawaii.com, 591-2211 (Blaisdell) or 526-4400 (Ticket Plus).
