Power goes out in parts of Hawai'i Kai
Advertiser Staff
About 1,000 Hawai'i Kai residents were left in the dark last night after power was knocked out at about 9:30.
Hawaiian Electric Co. spokes-man Fred Kobashikawa said the power was restored at 10:22 p.m. The failure affected customers in the Kuapa Kai area and homes along Kaluanui Road and Hawai'i Kai Drive. Kobashikawa said the problem was caused by an underground cable failure.
The failure did not involve residents in nearby Haha'ione Valley, where nearly 3,500 customers lost phone service Thursday. The phone service was expected to be fully restored today.
