Police have charged a 45-year-old Waikane man after he allegedly struck his 80-year-old father with a sickle during a domestic argument yesterday morning in Kane'ohe. Police charged Cy Moriwaki with second-degree assault and set his bail at $25,000.

Moriwaki is accused of striking his elderly father on the bridge of the nose with a garden sickle. The father was treated at a hospital and released, police said.

Charges filed in Waipahu fire

A 36-year-old woman has been charged in a Waipahu fire in February that caused more than $100,000 in damage and killed a dog, police said.

Dacy M. Chevalier, 36, was charged with first-degree criminal property damage and had bail set at $25,000.

Police said she is suspected of setting fire to her home at 94-333 Pupu'ole St., unit 402, on Feb. 21. They said she stood on the balcony just a few feet from the fire before fleeing into a nearby park, where officers found her hiding under a blanket.

She was taken to Castle Medical Center for a mental health evaluation.

She was arrested yesterday at the Sand Island Treatment Center.

Pearl City attacker sought

Police today were searching for a man who attacked a 56-year-old woman and sexually assaulted her in her Pearl City residence yesterday morning.

Police said a man surprised the woman and threatened her at knifepoint sometime around 2 or 3 a.m. He tied the woman up, stole cash from her room and sexually assaulted her before fleeing.

The woman was able to free herself and call for help. She said she did not know the assailant, police said.
