Local man to appear in Ricky Martin music video

THE LOCAL ANGLE: Keith Kandell, son of the Lloyd Kandells, who is attending the NYU film school in hopes of becoming a director, continues to get tapped to do on-camera gigs. He was in a national print campaign for Dolce & Gabbana and Ikea but his newest credit is a Ricky Martin music video that is being shot this week. To earn extra money, he has also been doing DJ work in such Big Apple hot spots as Moomba, Studio 54 and Lotus, and has a spinning job this Friday at the new Spy Bar at John Dominis ...

Keith's twin brothers, Jordan and Aaron Kandell, will be off to USC this fall, with one eyeing a screenwriting career, the other wanting to be a producer ...

To his surprise, the demand exceeded supply, but Halemanu came up with a nice idea: All mothers were invited onto the hula mound for an impromptu hula lesson ...

It was a special Mother's Day at Don Ho's Island Grill, too. Auntie Violet Alfapada sang with Imaikalani (Brickwood Galuteria's backup group on Friday nights) and Florence Koanui did naughty hula, Kimo Kahoano some Kui Lee vocals and Ocean Kaowili (also a Kaka'ako firefighter) tunes that brought some tears to eyes ...
