Maui-based 'Uluwehi Guerrero, a falsetto singer and kumu hula, will present a concert at 7:30 p.m. July 28 at Castle Theatre at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center in Kahului. Guerrero is a finalist in this year's Na Hoku Hanohano Awards scheduled May 29.

Known for his sweet ballads and angelic voice, Guerrero has made it his signature to weave story and chant into his music.

His harmonic sound is the substance of two CDs, his earlier "Ka Manawa Pono" and the more recent "In My Heart," which is a contender in this year's Hoku race. Guerrero has nominations for Male Vocalist of the Year, Song of the Year and Hawaiian Album of the Year.

He is a seasoned trouper, performing at such varied venues as the Merrie Monarch Festival in Hilo and Carnegie Hall in New York. He also makes regular pilgrimages to Japan.

Tickets: $25, $18, $10 (half-price for children 12 and under), on sale at the box office starting May 26.

Reservations: (808) 242-7460.
