UH Wahine lose to Texas Tech

Advertiser Staff

The University of Hawai'i softball team's season came to an end today when it lost to Texas Tech, 4-2, in the NCAA Regional I tournament at Tucson, Ariz.

Andrea Joachims hit a three-run homer for Texas Tech in the first inning, pulling the team ahead.

The Wahine scored runs in the second and sixth innings, but stranded a total of 11 runners.

The third-seeded Wahine(46-18) lost its first game in the double-elimination tournament to Southwest Texas State 2-1 yesterday.

Today's game was a must-win for the UH if it was to keep its season alive.

A controversial foul ball ruling dashed UH hopes to tie Texas Tech in the game, but the Wahine also missed opportunities to score.
