Bone marrow donors needed

Advertiser Staff

The Hawai'i Bone Marrow Donor Registry will enroll potential donors from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. tomorrow at the Prince Kuhio Plaza shopping complex in Hilo to try to find a donor for a little girl in Ohio.

The event, sponsored by the Big Island unit of the Hawai'i Government Employees Association, is aimed at finding a bone-marrow donor for 3-year-old Caroline Simonet of Ohio, who is of Cambodian descent.

Potential donors of Asian and Pacific Island ancestry are especially needed, registry officials said. Donors must be 18 to 60 years of age and in good health. A small sample of blood will be taken for tissue-sampling.

For more information, call the registry in Honolulu at 547-6154.
