Hawai'i Kai, YMCA offer fun runs for entire family

The Second Annual Family Fun Run/Walk will be May 26 at the Hawai'i Kai Towne Center.

The race beings at 7:45 a.m., with an awards ceremony and prize drawing after the race is completed.

The entry fee is $20 for adults and $10 for youths 17 and under. The money will benefit the Kamiloiki School's playground equipment fund. Fees must be received by May 25.

• YMCA Fun Run: The YMCA of Honolulu is offering a 5K fun run June 2 beginning at Ala Moana Beach Park in celebration of the organization's 150 years in Hawai'i.

The race will begin at 6:30 a.m. near Magic Island.

Entry fees for those registering before May 19 are: $35 per family, with a limit of four T-shirts; ages 13 and up, $15; and children, ages 6-12, $5. After May 19, the costs increase to $45 for families and $20 for adults, while the children's price remains the same.

• Clinics, workshops offered: Sportsfest, offering clinics and workshops for elementary through high school students, will be May 26 from 9:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m. at Manoa Valley District Park.

There will be 10 clinics, including football, basketball and soccer. Workshops will include sports medicine, healthy cooking and others.

Call the Straub Foundation at 524-6755 to register for the free event. The first 100 children (age 6 and above) will receive a T-shirt.
