Eminem gets child support tab
Associated Press
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. A circuit court agency in Michigan has recommended that rap star Eminem pay $142,480 a year in child support.
The Macomb County Friend of the Court recommendation filed last week in the couple's pending divorce case suggests $2,740 per week in child support to Kimberly A. Mathers, 26. She and her husband, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, agreed in March to joint custody of their 5-year-old daughter, Hailie Jade.
The recommendation also calls for the 28-year-old Grammy winner to pay $156 per week toward health insurance and assume 90 percent of any child care costs, The Macomb Daily reported Saturday.
The divorce remains pending before Macomb County Probate Judge Antonio P. Viviano. The couple has already agreed that Eminem can keep their $450,000 Clinton Township home but his wife will get $475,000 to buy a new home.
Judges often follow the Friend of the Court recommendations in divorce cases, but attorneys on both sides can request modifications. No date is set for Viviano to rule on the report.
Eminem's attorney, Harvey Hauer, said he had not seen the recommendation and couldn't comment on it. Kim Mathers' attorneys were unavailable for comment.
The couple was married in June 1999 and legally separated in August 2000, two months after Eminem was charged with using a gun to pistol whip a man he said he saw kissing his wife outside a nightclub.
Eminem pleaded guilty to carrying a concealed weapon and was given two years probation.
He faces sentencing June 5 in Oakland County after pleading no contest to a felony charge of carrying a concealed weapon and a misdemeanor charge of brandishing a weapon. Those charges are from an altercation hours after the nightclub incident.
