Officer fends off knife attack

A 42-year-old man was in police custody today after he allegedly attacked a Honolulu police officer with a knife in Wahiawa.

According to police, the attack happened at 12:45 a.m. on Waikalani Drive when the officer responded to a harassment call and went to the suspect's residence to investigate.

Police said a man opened the door and came after the officer with a kitchen knife. A struggle ensued and the officer wrestled the knife away from the man.

The man was arrested on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault. The officer suffered a fractured finger. The arrested man was not injured.

Stab wound leads to investigation

Police today launched an attempted murder investigation after a 42-year-old man walked into Queen's Medical Center emergency room with a stab wound to his throat.

The man told hospital staff that he was near a state building near a bus stop when he was attacked some time before 2:45 a.m.

Police said the man was unable to tell them anything else about the case. The man was in stable condition today. Hospital staff told police that the man wouldn't be able to talk for at least a week until he recovers from his injury.

Four teens injured in stolen car crash

Four teenagers were injured when a stolen rental car they were riding in overturned in Waimanalo last night. Police said the driver faces arrest when he is released from the hospital.

Police responded to the accident near the intersection of Mekia and Kakaina streets at about 7:25 p.m.

The two boys and two girls, all 17 years old, were taken to Queen's Medical Center. They were in fair condition this morning.

During the investigation it was discovered that the car, from Dollar Rent A Car, had been reported stolen.

Suspect arrested in sexual assault case

A 23-year-old Makiki man has been arrested in connection with a sexual assault on a 20-year-old woman in Makiki yesterday morning.

The man was arrested on suspicion of attempted first-degree sexual assault, three counts of third-degree sexual assault, kidnapping and second-degree theft.

According to police, the woman said she was walking along a roadway in Makiki just before 4 a.m. when her attacker approached and dragged her to a nearby alleyway.

While the man was sexually assaulting the woman, a car pulled into the driveway next to them and the woman was able to scream for help. The man fled the area, but was later found and arrested in connection with the sexual assault.

Man dies after falling into stream

A man died last night after he fell into 'A'ala Stream and hit his head on the concrete bottom, police said.

Police said the fall happened before 6:16 p.m. near the H-1 Freeway. There were no signs of foul play and the man's personal property appeared intact. The man was pronounced dead at 6:48 p.m.

The man's identity has not been released by the city's medical examiner.
