Services set for leader in Chinese community

Services for Chinese community leader Wah Duck Young, one of the founders of the former King's Garden Restaurant in Kaimuki and the Chinese Cultural Plaza, and past president of the United Chinese Society of Hawai'i have been set.

Young, 86, longtime principal of the Chung Shan School, also known as the Sun Yat Sen Chinese Language School, died April 14.

He was born in Palama, but spent much of his childhood in Canton, China. He is survived by wife, Grace; brothers, Wah Chock and Wah Kwock; sister, Winnie; numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. Thursday at Nuuanu Memorial Park Mortuary; memorial service is scheduled for 10:30 a.m.
