Former Warriors tackle Forney signs with Falcons

Former University of Hawai'i offensive lineman Kynan Forney yesterday signed a three-year contract with the Atlanta Falcons.
Forney, the Falcons' seventh-round draft pick this year, is guaranteed only the undisclosed bonus if he does not make the team.
But Forney said the bonus is "nice, real nice," and that he will use a small portion of it to pay off expenses. "I'll put the rest in the bank," he said. "I'm going to make my money work for me."
As a UH senior last year, Forney played right tackle, where he was named to the Western Athletic Conference's all-star team. He played right guard at the Falcons' rookie mini-camp last month, and at that position for this week's pass league in Atlanta.
"There's some good competition," said Forney, who remains hopeful of sticking with the Falcons. "I'm going to work hard no matter who's in front of me."
UH assistant coach Mike Cavanaugh predicted Forney will be "a hell of a great football player. He has what it takes. Besides all of his athletic ability, he has that burning passion."
