Signature ready to open Windward Mall cineplex

Advertiser Staff

Signature Theatres is putting the final touches on a 10-screen, 43,000-square-foot cinema at Windward Mall scheduled to open tomorrow, bringing theaters to the mall for the first time.

Phil Harris, president of Signature Theatres, shows off the lobby of the new Signature Theatres at Windward Mall. The 10-screen, 43,000-square-foot theater is on the site that JCPenney once occupied.

The theaters — which will offer stadium seating and Dolby digital sound — fulfill a more than 10-year-old plan by the mall. Mall management projects the theaters will draw roughly 25 percent more customers to the mall each year.

In honor of the "Pearl Harbor" premiere weekend, the theater will offer a special 7:49 a.m. showing of the movie tomorrow and said advance tickets are on sale. The box office will open at 7:15 a.m.

"We are delighted to bring this theater to the residents of the Windward side of O'ahu," said Phil Harris, president of California-based Signature.

The location is Signature's first at a regional mall in Hawai'i. The company operates 30 screens at two theaters: an 18-plex at Dole Cannery and a 12-plex at Pearl Highlands Center. It has more than 200 screens in 21 cities in Hawai'i, California and Montana.
