Brian Viloria is tentatively scheduled to return to the ring June 19th in Del Mar, Calif., for another ESPN2 show, his manager said yesterday.
Pending an agreement with the promoters on the size of the purse, Viloria will meet a yet to be determined opponent, Gary Gittelsohn said. "I'd say there is a very strong likelihood this will be Brian's next fight," said Gittelsohn.
Viloria was scheduled to return to Los Angeles yesterday, where he is to begin training today.
In the event negotiations fall through on the June 19th bout, Gittelsohn said Viloria would appear on the undercard of the June 23rd Oscar De La Hoya card in Las Vegas. However, a bout on that card might not be televised.
A replay of Viloria's May 15th pro debut at the Hawai'i Convention Center will be broadcast tomorrow at 9 p.m. on ESPN2, an Oceanic spokesman said.
In other boxing news, the Hawai'i State Boxing Commission approved a Hawai'i Professional Boxing Inc. show for Tuesday at Aloha Tower.
The 7 p.m. card will feature six four-round bouts headlined by the welterweight fight matching Mike Balasi of Honolulu against Roberto Cardona of California. Two women's bouts will also be on the card.
Correction: Tuesday's Hawai'i Professional Boxing Inc. show at Aloha Tower will feature six bouts scheduled for four rounds each. An incorrect number of bouts was listed in a story posted yesterday
