Basketball Jamboree Saturday at Iolani

The Eighth Annual Mufi Hannemann Basketball Jamboree will be held this Saturday at Iolani School.

The tournament will showcase the top girls players from throughout the state, including Kalaheo's Brandy Richardson, 'Aiea's Aritta Lane and Kylee Nakamura, Iolani's Monica Tokoro and Roosevelt's Jodi Nakashima.

Former Rainbow Wahine Nani Cockett, Hedy Liu, Fran Villarmia-Kahawai and Kyla Evers are also expected to attend.

There will be 12- and 14-younger age groups, and a prep division.

The first games will begin at 8:30 a.m. The final game, the prep all-star championship, will start at 4 p.m.

The event will benefit for the Gender Equity Sports Club.

Admission is free and donations are accepted.

VOLLEYBALL CAMP

Hawai'i pair will try out again: Ashley Dutro of Punahou and Mounia Nihipali of Kamehameha will try to make the USA High Performance Volleyball Camp this summer at the U.S. Olympic Center in Colorado Spring, Colo.

Both are freshmen and were among the 32 players who made last year's camp.


MOUNTAIN BIKE

Early deadline tomorrow: The early registration deadline for the Hawai'i Bicycling League's Tread Lightly Mountain Bike Ride is tomorrow.

The race will be held at Kualoa Ranch on June 3.

Entry fee is $25 for adults, and $15 for children 14 and younger.
