Four Stennis sailors investigated for alleged misconduct

By Mike Gordon

The Navy is investigating allegations of sexual misconduct involving four sailors from the visiting aircraft carrier USS Stennis.

Few details are being provided. Lt. Chito Peppler, spokesman for the Stennis, said a female sailor made the complaint against three male sailors for an incident that occurred Saturday night.

No charges have been filed, and all four sailors are restricted to the ship.

"We are taking this very seriously," Peppler said.

The San Diego-based Stennis, which has been in port since May 15, was used by Disney this week for the movie studio's lavish world premiere of the film "Pearl Harbor." The Stennis leaves for home sometime today.
