Hunter education classes set

Free Hunter Education classes are being offered by the Hawai'i Department of Land & Natural Resources.

Classes, open to anyone 10 years or older, will be offered:

• June 1-2 at Schofield Barracks No. 1181, off Beaver Road, in Area X-ray. June 1 from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. June 2 from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• June 15-16 at Nimitz Business Center, 1130 N. Nimitz Highway, #A-151 (building facing Nimitz, ground floor). June 15 from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. June 16 from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

• July 6-7 at Wai'anae Public Library (after the Wai'anae Fire Station same side on road). July 6 from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m.; July 7 from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

July 20-21 at Nimitz Business Center, 1130 N. Nimitz Highway, #A-151 (building facing Nimitz, ground floor). July 20 from 5:45 p.m. to 10:15 p.m. July 21 from 7:45 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Subjects covered include firearms and archery safety, survival and first aid, wildlife identification and conservation, rules and regulations, game care, and outdoor responsibility.

Attendance for all sessions is required to receive certicifation.

Picture ID at the door is required.

BOAT SHOW

• Hawai'i Boat Show: The Hawai'i Boat Show and Ocean Expo will be held at the Ko Olina Resort and Marina today through Sunday.

Games, and educational hands-on activities, along with exhibits by suppliers, manufacturers and dealers, will be featured at the three-day event.

Other activities include single-paddler canoe races, longcasting demonstrations and a fish recipe contest.

• Nike Clubs: Want to keep in shape while traveling?

NikeTown's Running Clubs provide accessible and fun group outings that encourage travelers to stay fit.

NikeTown invites runners of all athletic levels to join the NikeTown Running Clubs, which meet weekly at all NikeTown locations, including here in Honolulu.

A typical evening begins with a group stretch at NikeTown. Runners then enjoy a three- to five-mile run through the area.

NikeTown clubs are located in Boston, Chicago, Denver, Honolulu, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Miami, New York, Orange County (Calif.), Portland (Ore.) and San Francisco.
