Registration deadlines are approaching for the 2001 Aloha State Games, which offer competition in 48 different sports.
The Games open June 2 with a community fair and opening ceremonies at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.
The first events of the games bulls-eye pistol and action pistol also take place June 2 and 3 at the Koko Head Range. Registration deadlines for both events are seven days prior, or today, according to Mark Zeug, executive director.
Competition in 22 sports begin June 9 and 10, and another 14 sports start on the following weekend.
In all, the 2001 Aloha State Games will award nearly 1,000 medal events.

Registration booklets also are available at all Starbucks Coffee and Jamba Juice locations in Hawai'i.
Registration fee for individual sports is $20 for up to six events ($15 for children under 12); for team sports, $30 per team plus $12 per team member. Most sports will accept late entries for $10 extra, but late registrants are not guaranteed a T-shirt, Zeug said.
Registration booklets also can be obtained from event sponsors: Moore's Outlet Store in Wai'anae, Hawaiian Wireless, HMSA, Ozone Sports, Pacific SportsCare/Wahiawa General Hospital and Young Guns.

Notes: All team managers, captains or a representative competing in softball must attend a meeting 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at Lanakila Park. Teams can submit their roster and registration at the meeting.
