• NANCY MOSER has been named executive director of the YWCA of Hawai'i Island. In the new position she is responsible for health, youth, child and family services programs at Big Island sites, including Kona, Kohala, Hamakua, Puna and Hilo.

• ELBERT T. SAITO, president of Commercial Sheetmetal Co. Inc., has been named president of the Sheet Metal Contractors Association board of directors. Also named at the group's 40th annual banquet were vice president, MILES M. KUBO of Alaka'i Mechanical Corp.; secretary, WAI LIK CHAN of O'ahu Plumbing and Sheet Metal Ltd., and treasurer, YOSHIKO KAWAKAMI of Quality Sheetmetal and Air Conditioning Co. Ltd.

• SANDY WOODEN, who has overseen the openings of Martin & MacArthur stores at Whalers Village and The Shops at Wailea on Maui, and the company's new Ala Moana Center showroom, has been promoted to retail division manager, responsible for those locations as well as the firm's Aloha Tower Marketplace location.

• NANCY BONNER and LYNNDY MAU have been promoted to Martin & MacArthur store managers for the new Ala Moana Center showroom, and Aloha Tower Marketplace, respectively. MARIA TRESSLER TANGONAN has been hired as assistant store manager, and TED CSIGI and KAWEHI OWENS, as sales supervisors, all at the Ala Moana Center showroom.

• DAVID J.W. CHANG has been named senior vice president and manager of Central Pacific Bank's Retail Banking Group, overseeing all aspects of consumer banking, with focus on sales and service initiatives. He was formerly senior vice president and manager of the financial technologies division.

• JEFFREY C. CHUN, former president and manager of NAPA Auto Parts, Sand Island, has been named director, fleet operations for Budget Rent a Car-Hawai'i.

• BRYAN ITO has been named data sales manager at Sprint Hawai'i, responsible for sales support on all Sprint Hawai'i data and advanced voice product offerings. He also will assist in development of sales proposals, data sales and marketing strategies, and data ordering processes for the division. He was formerly with Inacom Information Systems.

• CITY BANK has announced the hirings of three branch managers:

  • Makiki: FRANCINE MONIZ, former operations manager at American Savings Bank branches at Ala Moana Center and 'üina Haina.
  • Kailua, O'ahu: Jennifer Knops, most recently assistant vice president and branch manager, First South Bank, Fayetteville, N.C.
  • Kihei, Maui: SCOTT W. BRAND, a 16-year banking veteran, six in branch operations and management, most recently with California Bank and Trust, Pleasant Hill, Calif.

• RICHARD L. SHERMAN has joined the law firm of GOODSILL, ANDERSON, QUINN & STIFEL LLP as legal and general business consultant. The attorney will continue as managing officer of QED Technologies Inc., an international life science consulting firm and wholly-owned subsidiary of The Omnicom Group. He will also continue as principal in the private investment firm, CIP Management Inc.

• The American College Of Trust And Estate Counsel, a 2,700-member national association of lawyers who have made outstanding contributions to the field of trust and estate law, has elected local attorney DOUGLAS C. SMITH a fellow in the organization. Smith is with Damon Key Leong Kupchak Hastert.

• JOHN LOPIANETZKY, general manager of Ruth's Chris Steak House at Lahaina, Maui, has been named regional manager for the chain's operations in Honolulu's Restaurant Row, and at Maui's The Shops at Wailea and Lahaina Shopping Center.

•DENNIS J. SIMONIS has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer for ML Macadamia Orchards. Simonis is former chief financial officer for Mauna Loa Macadamia Nut Corp., the firm's largest customer. Before that, he was an executive with Theo Davies & Co. in Honolulu. ML Macadamia Orchards also announced the closing of its Honolulu office at the end of this month, consolidating administrative functions in the Big Island's Pahala accounting offices.

• Aquasearch Inc. has named EDWARD B.T. SUN as director of global sales and marketing. Since 1979, Sun has spearheaded marketing, distribution and sales programs for companies in the Pacific and Hawai'i, including Boise Technology, Computer City Corporate, GTE Hawaiian Telephone, General Electric Lighting, Wyle Electronics and Hewlett-Packard.
