• The first membership meeting of 2001 of the HAWAI'I HISPANIC CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will be held 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the United Puerto Rican Association, 1249 N. • Qualified state tuition plans and college financial aid will be among topics covered at a satellite broadcast discussion on "Tax Planning and Financial Preparation for Minor Children" at 9 a.m. June 6 by Edward Jones investment company. The course, focusing on transferring wealth to children, will be held at the firm's Mapunapuna office at 99 Ranch Market, 1151 Mapunapuna St. (D-9). • Two sets of eight-week classes, held Saturday mornings or Wednesday evenings for prospective business entrepreneurs or those wanting to expand their business, will be offered during June and July, sponsored by the U.S. Small Business Administration and the Hawai'i Women's Business Center. The classes on "Planning Your Business," in partnership with American Savings Bank, are scheduled 9 a.m. to noon June 2 through July 28, and 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. June 6 to Aug. 1. • Upcoming small-business start-up classes sponsored by the HONOLULU COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM, will be free to low-income individuals. The series of "Micro Enterprise Training" classes will be held 9 to 11 a.m. June 5, 6, 7, 12, 13 and 14 at the community action program's Kane'ohe location, 47-232 Waihe'e Road. • "THE 21st CENTURY ENTREPRENEUR: Can Your Team Win in the New Economy?" — a seminar for current and aspiring business owners, as well as other interested individuals including managers, financiers and attorneys — will be offered by nonprofit entrepreneurial education organization The Wayne Brown Institute on Maui, O'ahu and the Big Island. The two-hour seminars are sponsored in part by the state Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, and the Hawai'i Trade and Technology Association and Hawai'i Venture Capital Association (HVCA).
