A mo-ped rider who was struck in a Kalihi intersection last week by a dark van or SUV died yesterday at the Queen's Medical Center.
The hit-and-run driver is still at large.
Daniel Agcaoili, 33, was taken to Queen's in critical condition following the hit-and-run Thursday evening.
Agcaoili had been in critical condition with severe head injuries through the weekend, his brother, Lawrence, said early yesterday afternoon.
He died around 1:30 p.m. yesterday.
Agcaoili was riding his yellow mo-ped northeast on Keha Place toward Kamehameha Highway just before 11 p.m. Thursday. The vehicle that struck him was traveling the same direction.
The driver of the vehicle struck Agcaoili from behind, then fled the scene, police said.
Agcaoili was not wearing a helmet.
Detectives have begun a "failure to render aid" investigation and are asking anyone with information about the collision to contact the traffic division by calling 911 or 529-3499.
