HONOLULU

HMSA survey under way

The Hawaii Medical Service Association and its HMO affiliate, Health Plan Hawaii, are conducting the 2001 Member Satisfaction Survey. More than 122,000 members in HMSA's Preferred Provider Plan, 65C Plus and Health Plan Hawaii will be surveyed.

Membership satisfaction information is used as part of the association's quality-improvement activities related to its Preferred Provider Plan and Health Plan Hawaii. The survey, in its fourth year, is the largest in the state.


Nurse assistant course offered

The American Red Cross is accepting applications for its Nurse Assistant Training Course for day and evening courses at the Red Cross headquarters, 4155 Diamond Head Road.

The evening sessions will be from 4:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from June 11 to July 13. Day sessions will be from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from July 20 to Aug. 17. Call 734-2101.


Seniors to walk tomorrow

Hawaii Medical Service Association's Akamai Living program, along with First Hawaiian Bank, the Department of Parks and Recreation and Kuakini Health Systems, are sponsoring a Healthy 2-mile Fun Walk for Hawai'i's seniors.

The walk begins with a ceremony and warm-up exercises at 7:15 a.m. tomorrow at Ala Moana Beach Park's McCoy Pavilion. About 600 seniors will participate.

The Prime Time Senior's Fair at the Blaisdell Exhibition Hall will follow the Fun Walk.


Natural hazards workshop set

The University of Hawai'i at Hilo Center for the Study of Active Volcanoes will stage four workshops on natural hazards at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa campus in June.

Each session will be from 9 a.m.-noon in the HIGP building, Room 100, across from the East-West Center.

The topics include hurricanes on June 12, lava flows on June 13, earthquakes on June 19 and tsunamis on June 20. Call (808) 974-7631.
