Reader survey: 'Pearl Harbor' gets medal

Advertiser Staff

The movie "Pearl Harbor" overcame initial bad ratings and eventually triumphed in our five-day informal reader survey here online.

The survey — available for readers since the film opened in theaters Friday — asked, "Tell us what you think of the Hawai'i-filmed 'Pearl Harbor.'"

Readers could choose between the following four ratings.

  • Give it a medal
  • Torpedo it
  • OK, but not admiral-caliber
  • No opinion

Initially, a majority of the voters rejected the film and called for a torpedo, but after the weekend more and more voters wanted to hand out medals. Eventually, the medals outnumbered the torpedoes 635 to 428. The number of votes was 1,346.

Here are the final results:

Give it a medal: 635

Torpedo it: 428

OK, but not admiral-caliber: 236

No opinion: 47

Votes: 1346

Voters volunteered to rate the movie, and the results are not scientific.
