Glen Grant learned that the best thing about the path to becoming a published author was being able to share the stories people have shared with him.

"There's a sense of satisfaction in that," he said.
Author Glen Grant wants more people to see their words in print.
He'll share more about that and other tidbits when he joins publishers, authors and artists to present the "What It Takes to Get Published in Hawai'i" workshop for the Hawai'i Book Publishers Association.
The June 23 workshop is planned for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Krauss 012, the Yukiyoshi Room, on the University of Hawai'i, Manoa, campus.
On the lineup as presenters are authors Shelly Mecum ("God's Photo Album"), Bob Rodin ("Articles of Faith"), Doug Wilson ("Executor & Trustee Survival Guide"), Rick Zeigler ("Red Sun: The Invasion of Hawai'i After Pearl Harbor"). There's also an array of photographers and book publishing professionals.
"What is really interesting about this course is it's all-encompassing," said Claudia Cannon, marketing director for Booklines, a book distributing outfit. "Because we're such a succinct regional market, we can go from A-Z with everything you need to know not only about the publishing process, but the marketing process as well."
Cost for the brown-bag workshop is $75, with an informal pau hana gathering afterward. To register: UH Outreach noncredit programs, 956-7221 (event ID SO3428) or online (www.outreach.hawaii.edu).
