St. Andrews Cathedral items knocked over

Advertiser Staff

Someone walked into St. Andrews Cathedral on Memorial Day and broke a desk, knocked over a large candlestick and pulled down flags and banners, but church officials said nothing was vandalized.

"There was no forced entry," said the Rev. Rick Vinson, interim pastor. "Stuff was just knocked down as if somebody came in and was angry at life."

The Episcopal church is open during the day but locked at night. A parking lot attendant who opens the doors discovered the mess about 7 a.m. yesterday, Vinson said.

Police dusted for fingerprints.

"The church gets constant activity because it's downtown," Vinson said. "But we seldom have trouble."
