UH Wahine sailors lead national meet

The University of Hawai'i Wahine are in first place after opening-day races of the 2001 Intercollegiate North American Dinghy Championships.

The three-day event is being held on the Charles River in Boston.

The Wahine have a low-best total of 50 points in the 18-school field. Old Dominion and Dartmouth are next with 65 points each.

UH is in first place in A division with 17 points and sixth in B division with 33. Senior skipper Molly O'Bryan, with sophomore Sarah Hitchcock as crew, won two of the six races in A division. Boston University also won two races and is second with 24 points.

Tufts University leads B division with 22 points.
