UH's Bardecki cited for water polo

University of Hawai'i water polo player Christi Bardecki has been named honorable mention on the American Water Polo Coaches' Association's All-America team.
Bardecki, a junior driver from Toronto, led UH with 51 goals and 36 assists this season. The Wahine finished the season 25-10.
Bardecki is the sixth Wahine to earn All-America honors since the program started in 1998. She was the only Wahine selected to the team this year.
Stanford's Brenda Villa was voted Player of the Year.
TRIATHLON
Jorris fifth in Brazil: Heather Matz Jorris of Honolulu finished fifth among the women at the Ironman Brazil this past Saturday.
Jorris completed the 2.4-mile swim, 112-mile bike ride and 26.2-mile run in 9 hours, 52 minutes, 1 second. She won $2,500.
The time qualifies Jorris for the Ironman World Championships in Kona in October.
Jorris completed the bike ride in 10th place, and then ran a 3:16 marathon to move up to fifth.
Wendy Ingraham of Smartville, Calif., won the event in 9:10:02.
Other Hawai'i finishers included Lisa Nelson (12:17:59) and David Casas (11:47:51).
TRACK AND FIELD
McLean fifth in NCAAs: University of California senior Robert "Bubba" McLean of Kula, Maui, finished fifth in the pole vault at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships yesterday in Eugene, Ore., with a vault of 17 feet, 10 1/2 inches.
Southern California's Dennis Kholev won with 18-6 1/2.
McLean, a graduate of St. Anthony High, placed second at the Pac-10 Championships with 17-3.
