Advertiser Staff and News Services
Maui has been named the Top Tropical Island in the world for the eighth consecutive year by a high-profile travel magazine.
The Conde Nast Traveler Reader's Choice Awards gave Maui a score of 87.1, beating out Bali and four other Hawaiian islands for the No. 1 position. Kaua'i was ranked No. 3., the Big Island No. 5, Lana'i No. 6, and O'ahu No. 9. The scores reflect various criteria, such as accommodation, scenery and other traveler concerns.
Of the 29 Top Resorts readers named in the November issue, 18 were in Hawai'i. Maui and the Big Island each had five resorts named to the list, while O'ahu came in with four, and Kaua'i and Lana'i with two each.
