Tip-off
Former Islander has TV role on '24'

Daniel Bess, a Mid-Pacific School of the Arts graduate (Class of '95), has a recurring role on "24," the new Fox TV drama starring Kiefer Sutherland, premiering at 8 p.m. today on KHON.

Bess portrays Rick, the blind date of Elisha Cutherbert (who portrays Kimberly Bauer, daughter of the Sutherland character, Jack Bauer), in the premiere episode. The series, one of the delayed fall TV season's anticipated hits, focuses on the escapades of Jack Bauer, a CIA counter-intelligence agent, in 24 hours of "real time" — hence the title. Ron Howard is executive producer.

Bess is the son of Ann Rayson, University of Hawai'i-Manoa English professor, and Buddy Bess, publisher of the Bess Press.
