George Lowell Todd, Korea and Vietnam veteran, dead at 74

George Lowell Todd, a retired Marine who previously lived in Waipahu, died Nov. 1 at his retirement home in Bridgeton, Mo. He was 74.

He served in three wars and saw action with the Marines at Inchon in Korea and Khe San in Vietnam. He was wounded in action and was decorated for his service.

Among his survivors are a son, Steve Todd, who manages the Big Island's office of the state Department of Business, Economic Development and Tourism; and a daughter-in-law, Bobby Jean Leithead-Todd, a Hilo attorney and a member of the Hawai'i County Council.

Todd was born in Missouri. He joined the Army in World War II and then enlisted in the Marines.

Other survivors are his wife, Clara Dolores; sons, Gary and Ronald; daughter, Donna; three brothers; two sisters; and seven grandchildren.

A funeral will be held today at Alexander Funeral Home in St. Ann, Mo., followed by burial at the Veterans Cemetery in St. Louis.
