The University of Hawai'i women's soccer team is on a roll and no opponent or school record seems safe.
Veronica Flores scored the school's first hat trick as Hawai'i routed Boise State, 7-1, in a quarterfinal of the Western Athletic Conference Tournament yesterday at Dallas.
The seven goals were the most scored by Hawai'i since the program started in 1994, a span of 145 matches.
The Wahine, seeded No. 4, extended their season-high winning streak to four.
Flores, a senior forward, scored at 5:47, 25:41 and 40:16.
"She was wonderful, absolutely wonderful," Hawai'i coach Pinsoom Tenzing said. "She's absolutely lethal around the 18-yard box."
Flores tied the school record for points in a match (6) and set the school record for career points (47).
She entered the match having scored one goal on the season.
Hawai'i's Arlene Devitt, a sophomore forward, added two goals.
Her second goal set school records for points (29) and goals (12) in a season.
"She was particularly good today," Tenzing said. "She did all things we needed her to do and did them well."
Earlier in the day, Devitt and Carmel Hurley, a senior defender, were named to the All-WAC first team.
Freshmen Pam Fong and Wendi Young also scored against Boise. It was Young's second appearance of the season and first career goal.
Boise State, the No. 5 seed, beat Hawai'i, 3-0, on Oct. 26 at Boise, Idaho.
Hawai'i improved to 9-9 overall and 6-3 in the WAC.
Boise State dropped to 10-7-1 and 5-4.
The Wahine will play No. 2 Rice in a semifinal match today.
