Matthew Pedersen will play Joseph, a role he portrayed when the Diamond Head Theatre staged the show.

Curtain time will be at 7:30 p.m. April 18-20, and 2 p.m. April 21.

Matthew Pedersen will portray Joseph, reprising his role he first performed under the auspices of Diamond Head Theatre, where the musical enjoyed a sold-out run.

For Pedersen, a former Broadway performer in "Miss Saigon" and other musicals, it's a bold step.

"Ever since I played Joseph in the Diamond Head Theatre production, everyone has asked me when we would be doing it again. We're finally able to bring it back and perform it at the historic Hawai'i Theatre, which promises to make it a truly exciting entertainment event," said Pedersen, who is founder-director of Jamarama School for the Performing Arts, a nonprofit performing arts and education organization founded in 1988 for youngsters 6 through 17.

Andrew Sakaguchi will return to direct and choreograph the musical.

The cast will include Dion Donahue as Reuben and Jim Hutchison as Jacob, Joseph's father.

The musical boasts such hit tunes as "Any Dream Will Do," "Close Every Door" and "Go, Go, Go Joseph," among others.

Tickets will be priced from $10 to $35, and the box-office opening will be announced later.
