Micronesians will celebrate their culture
By Vicki Viotti,

Life in Micronesia is a world apart from Hawai'i. "It's like Hawai'i was ... 75 years ago," said Tom Amarino, president of the Micronesia Friendship League. "The people come here, and they don't know how to relate to this other culture."
Helping them is the league's mission, and helping Hawai'i understand Micronesia is the mission of Micronesia Festival 2001, 11 a.m.-8 p.m. tomorrow at McCoy Pavilion, Ala Moana Beach Park. There will be performances at 2 and 6 p.m., crafts and a fashion show. Admission ($5, call 847-7767 for discount info) will get you a chance at a drawing for a trip to Micronesia.
