Turkey Trot scheduled for Thanksgiving Day

The 27th annual Turkey Trot will be held Nov. 22, Thanksgiving Day.

The 10-mile fun run starts at the Kapi'olani Park Bandstand. Registration begins at 6:30 a.m.

Cost for the event, sponsored by the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Honolulu Marathon Jogging Clinic Hui, is $2.

Prizes will be awarded for runners who come the closest to predicting their finishing time. Gift certificates and pumpkin pies will be given to those runners with the smallest difference between their predicted and actual finishing time.

Runners are prohibited from wearing watches, timepieces or portable radios.

Walkers are welcome, but must complete the course within a two-hour period to be eligible for the prizes.

CHEERLEADING

• Na Ali'i All-Stars fall tryouts: Na Ali'i All-Stars, Hawai'i's only all-star competition cheer squad, will hold tryouts tomorrow from 2:30-4 p.m. at Hawai'i Cheer Company at 96-1173 Waihona St. in Pearl City.

Boys and girls in grades 12 and below are eligible. Participants are asked to wear shorts, T-shirt and tennis shoes.

CYCLING

• Tour de Cure: A fund-raising bicycling ride to benefit the American Diabetes Association Hawai'i is 7 a.m. Sunday at Kaka'ako Waterfront Park.

Routes of 9, 20, 28 and 33 miles are offered. Fees are $35 per adult, or $15-$25 for teams, depending on the number of people on the team.
