Keep your child from e-cheating

Gannett News Service

Thanks to the Internet, there's an e-cheating epidemic in schools. Kids have always cheated, but Web sites that provide term papers and book reviews for downloading at no cost have helped worsen the problem.

How can you help keep your child from cheating? Half the kids who cheat don't know they're doing it, say experts quoted in Family Life magazine. Explain clearly to your child what constitutes cheating and why it's wrong. Be a good role model by being honest yourself in all you do. Keep the PC in a room you can monitor, and keep an eye on e-activities. Finally, watch how you encourage your child to get good grades. Your child could feel pressure to excel for the wrong reasons.
