Suspect sought in Waipio Gentry shooting

Police are pursuing an attempted murder case against a suspect who fired shots last night in a Waipio Gentry neighborhood.

Nobody was hurt in the incident, which occurred at around 10 p.m. in the Nanilihilihi Place cul-de-sac.

A group of about 10 people arrived in two cars and on two motorcycles and confronted another group that had gathered in the garage of one man's home. Police detective John Woo said the confrontation apparently continued an argument that had begun Tuesday night.

After the intruders had retreated to their vehicles, one man fired five shots toward the garage, using a 9mm semiautomatic pistol. One round lodged in a parked van.

No detailed description was filed for the suspect, who was shooting from a distance and in the dark, Woo said.

Police searching for Payless ShoeSource robber

A man in his mid-20s is the suspect in a robbery yesterday at the Payless ShoeSource store on Wai'alae Avenue.

The suspect walked in at 4:47 p.m. and when a clerk approached him he demanded money and indicated he had a concealed gun. He took about $100 from the register, a store spokesman said, and fled from the store.

He is described as 5-foot-10, weighing about 160 pounds, of medium build and fair complexion with short black hair. The suspect was wearing a white T-shirt, shorts and a red baseball cap.

Stylist kidnapped from Wahiawa Supercuts

A stylist at the Wahiawa Supercuts shop was kidnapped by a man who police said was her former boyfriend yesterday, while she was cutting a customer's hair.

Wahiawa police listed the suspect as a 20-year-old male who entered the shop at about 5:30 p.m. and confronted the victim, 19. He grabbed her by the throat and forced her outside, into his car, and drove away.

Police investigators said the suspect later pulled over and fled the vehicle on foot. The woman then reportedly drove to a friend's house and called police. No arrests were made.
