Waipahu's Brian Viloria will fight his most experienced opponent to date when he meets Ramon Jose Hurtado on Nov. 23 at the Roseland Ballroom in New York.
The 112-pound bout, which may be televised as part of ESPN2's Friday Night Fights series, is scheduled for six rounds.
Hurtado, who is originally from Panama, but has been fighting out of Las Vegas, is a reported 14-5 with nine knockouts. He has lost four of his past five fights and had an unsuccessful shot at a World Boxing Association title three years ago.
Viloria, a Sydney Olympian and former world amateur champion, is 3-0 with two knockouts. His most recent bout was a first-round stop of Sheldon Wile in Philadelphia on Friday.
"He (Hurtado) is a step up (in competition) for Brian, but one we feel he's well suited for," said Gary Gittelsohn, Viloria's manager.
The bout is Viloria's first scheduled six rounder.
