Feb. 9 Pro Bowl tickets can now be purchased

Advertiser Staff

Some 13,000 tickets for the NFL Pro Bowl on Feb. 9 go on sale starting today, the league announced yesterday at Aloha Stadium.

Tickets will be available through Ticket Plus, which has 42 outlets statewide, including at 17 Foodland stores, as well as at military bases. Besides the outlets, including the one at Aloha Stadium, tickets may be purchased by phone at 526-4400 or toll-free at (877) 750-4400 or through the Internet at www.TicketPlusHawaii.com.

Because of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, the game was moved from Feb. 3, the first time the NFL all-star game will be held on a Saturday since it was held in Honolulu in 1980.

The NFL reduced the prices on 21,000 seats, which are priced from $20 and up. At the same time, the league said it sell 2,500 "Club Seats," which will be located on the loge level. Club Seats cost $200 each. The price includes special parking and gate entry with enhanced food and merchandise concessions. Club section customers also will receive $25 in "Pro Bowl Bucks," which are redeemable at the concession stands; a seat cushion; collector's bobble head doll; a relic football card; discounts on Official NFL Pro Bowl Tailgate Party tickets; and free tickets to the NFL Experience in Waikiki.

Ticket prices are: $200 for loge levels on all sides of the stadium; $75 for orange and blue seats along the mauka and makai sidelines; $50 for red and yellow seats along the mauka and makai sidelines; $20 for all seats in both end zones.

The NFL also announced that ballots to vote for Pro Bowl players will be available starting Monday. Deadline for fan voting is Jan. 7. The teams will be announced at halftime shows of the NFC and AFC Wild Card games on Jan. 12.

SAILING

• UH team wins: The University of Hawai'i co-ed sailing team won the North/South Intersectional at Santa Barbara, Calif., last weekend. Hawai'i won the regatta for the first time in the program's history.

The co-ed team is ranked eighth in the Sailing World magazine college poll. The Wahine are ninth.

The final sailing event for Hawai'i is the Intercollegiate Sailing Association Men's Singlehanded National Championships, tomorrow and Saturday in Norfolk, Va.

Freshman Bryan Lake will represent Hawai'i. Lake qualified by finishing second in the Pacific Coast Intercollegiate Yacht Racing Association Men's Singlehanded Championships in September.
