Volleyball players sign

La Pietra's Nanea Holmes signed with Alabama-Birmingham and St. Francis' Liz Narkon signed with Northern Arizona yesterday, the first day volleyball players were allowed to send national letters of intent to colleges.

Holmes, a 5-foot-9 setter/outside hitter, helped lead La Pietra a 9-2 regular-season record — its best season in over 20 years.

Narkon, a 6-foot middle blocker/outside hitter, was a first-team all-state selection last year after helping the Troubadours to a state runner-up finish.
