Christmas is coming

The annual Kane'ohe Christmas parade gets under way at 9 a.m. Dec. 1. It begins at Windward Mall, travels along Kamehameha Highway to Kane'ohe Bay Drive and ends near Castle High School. 239-9003.

CONCERTS: Nov. 23-24

Jazz/blues guitarist Dave Specter will offer two performances on O'ahu:

  • 10 p.m. Nov. 23, Haleiwa Joe's, with his combo; $10 cover, at the door. 637-8005.

New Found Glory, the Coral Springs, Fla., punkster band that blends hardcore, emo and rock, is heading for a concert at World Cafe. The Local Divas present "This One's for You, Loyal," a holiday concert at the Hawaii Ballroom of the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel. The Divas are Carole Kai, Melveen Leed, Nohelani Cypriano and Loyal Garner, who has been battling cancer. DANCE: Nov. 30

Bayanihan, the National Folk Dance Company of the Philippines, which is touring the United States, will give its finale concert at the Blaisdell Concert Hall. Grammy-winning reggae/pop star Shaggy, whose "It Wasn't Me" blockbuster single got its launch by Hawai'i radio stations, offers "The Mahalo Concert" at Pipeline Cafe. The Ying Quartet, right, winner of the Naumburg Chamber Music Award and one of America's most highly regarded ensembles, returns for a concert at the University of Hawai'i-Manoa's Orvis Auditorium. Singer-guitarist Leo Kottke, will make a four-concert, three-Island tour in December, culminating with a performance Dec. 11 at the Hawai'i Theatre. A Windham Hill artist, Kottke now is a regular guest on Garrison Keillor's "A Prairie Home Companion" radio show.

Lee, who was born in Hong Kong and raised in San Francisco, fuses R&B and Taiwan pop sounds; her U.S. debut release is titled "Just No Other Way." 7 p.m. Dec. 15. $20 general, $40 and $60 reserved seats; discounts available until Nov. 30.
