Open casting call for 'Surf Girls' film

A casting director for the upcoming Universal Pictures film "Surf Girls" is searching the state for young men and women to play key roles in the flick, to be filmed in Hawai'i.
"Casting Call on the Red Carpet" will be 10 p.m. to 2 a.m. tomorrow at Chai's Island Bistro. All who attend will be registered in the casting director's database for future film projects, including five more planned to be filmed in Hawai'i.
There will also be an open call for "Surf Girls" extras; you must be 21 or older; acting experience is not necessary. Bring a photo.
The event is being run in conjunction with the "Dance Party on the Red Carpet" event, and includes music, dancing, prizes and free pupu. Tickets: $10 in advance at Cheapo Music Store and Hungry Ear Records. Space is limited. Call 539-3331 for more information.
'Jurassic Park,' the beach party
The evening movies and grinds on Waikiki Beach continue this weekend with 1993's Steven Spielberg-directed, locally-filmed dino flick "Jurassic Park" tomorrow, and 1958's silver screen version of Rodgers and Hammerstein's "South Pacific" on Sunday.
From 4 to 9 p.m. at Queen's Surf, the event kicks off with live music by local artists until 6 p.m.
Films begin between 6 and 6:15 p.m. each night. Food from Dixie Grill, Seafood Village, Skyline Cafe, Paniolo Cafe, Pizza Hut and Nani Wa-Wa will be sold throughout both evenings. Parking available at the Honolulu Zoo. Admission is free.
