A memorial service for Kona artist JOHN PAUL THOMAS will be held at 10 a.m. today at the residence of Bonnie Rice in Kailua on the Big Island. Thomas, 74, died Sept. 5 in Honolulu. The educator and painter lived the last 36 years of his life on the Big Island, mostly in Kona where he maintained a studio. His ashes were placed at Kona Veterans Cemetery.
