Advertiser Staff

Cal State-San Bernardino defeated defending national women's volleyball champion Hawai'i Pacific, 30-10, 30-26, 30-23, last night in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Pacific Regionals in San Bernardino, Calif.

Kim Ford had a match-high 21 kills for the top-seeded Coyotes (29-2), who are ranked fifth in the nation.

Roberta Robert had 10 kills for the 16th-ranked Lady Sea Warriors, who ended their season at 19-5.

"San Bernardino had a lot of guns and they came out strong," said HPU coach Tita Ahuna, whose team hit just .093. "If we could have won that second set, we might have done better."

The score was tied 13 times in the second game, the last at 26. A hitting error gave San Bernardino the lead, and Fox added two kills to help put it away.
