Fun House
Breakfast made in heaven

By Wayne Merritt
Waikiki Resident

Our children had a ritual of saying their nightly prayers, kneeling together by the side of one of their beds while we parents stood behind them with bowed heads. They were encouraged to speak extemporaneously and from the heart.

You can imagine our surprise when the 7-year-old said, among other things, "Bless me that I will have a good breakfast in the morning."

This immediately set us wondering what had been wrong with past breakfasts and just what she had in mind, as we thought they had been fine.

Then, to our surprise, the 3-year-old, with eyes still closed in prayer, lifted her face to the heavens and, before her older sister could continue, said, "Me too."

It obviously was time to re-evaluate the breakfast menu.
