These 4-H members have been selected to participate in the 80th National 4-H Congress this month in Atlanta. It is the highest state honor attainable by a 4-H youth member in recognition of significant accomplishments in the 4-H development program: Jaynell Cantor, Kellie Kamigaki, Jennifer Kobayashi, Stacie Oshiro, Kristen Wong and Megan Wong, Big Island; Casey LaPlante, Kaua'i; Kathryn Monet, Stacy Pladera, Michelle Mitchell and Melissa Tavares, Maui; and Erin Kanno, Traci-Ann Miwa, Christine Nagano and Jana Yakushiji, O'ahu.
The Greater Los Angeles Federal Executive Board has chosen three Hawai'i students to receive $750 awards from the Federal Employee Education and Assistance Fund: Robert Birchfield of Pearl Harbor, and Cara Kawahara and Lisa Yoshimi, both of Pearl City.
Kaimuki Christian School has presented a $1,000 Helen McKenzie Merit Scholarship to seventh-grader Genice Yamamoto.
