Kane'ohe panel OKs wish list
The Kane'ohe Neighborhood Board voted for comfort and safety for its wish list of capital improvement projects for the community.
Topping the list is a new comfort station for Kane'ohe District Park, a traffic light system at King Intermediate and a flashing light at St. Mark Lutheran School.
Mayor Jeremy Harris had asked boards to submit a list of the most important maintenance and repair projects up to $1 million, which he said would be included in his budget.
All projects are subject to City Council approval.
The remaining Kane'ohe projects approved last week, in order of priority are, ceiling fans for the Kane'ohe Community Center, buffer hedges at the center, asphalt sidewalks on Puohala and Pua Inia streets, historical signs at Kane'ohe sites and placing utility wires underground.
The board voted 13 to 3 in favor of the list.
Dog remains missing
Dudley Do Wrong, the dog that was taken during a vehicle theft Monday night, is still missing despite several calls of possible sightings.
Dudley was waiting in his owner's van outside 24 Hour Fitness in Kane'ohe when thieves broke into the vehicle and took it, apparently to use in a robbery in Waipahu.
Jim Nelson, the dog's owner, said he received about nine calls yesterday and checked out every one but didn't find Dudley, who suffers from arthritis and needs medication to move.
So far Nelson has checked out possibilities in Pearl City and Kane'ohe and he said he'll go wherever the calls take him.
"We can't give up," he said. "We'll never give up."
Dudley, is a cocker spaniel mix, blond and has short legs, was in a dark green Ford 2000 Windstar, license plate JDT 113. Nelson still would like people to call him if they see the van or the dog. Nelson's number is 236-4949.

Comments sought on court rules
Public comment is being sought on proposals to amend five rules of the Supreme Court of Hawai'i and to the creation of a nominating committee to the court.
The affect of the amendments would be to remove the Hawai'i State Bar Association from administration of both the court's disciplinary board and the Trustees of the Lawyers Fund for Client Protection. The proposed changes would also end the association's monopoly control over nomination of board members and trustees. They also would remove the association from the budgeting process.
Although the changes were initially put out for public comment in May 2000, language changes required an extension of the process. During that time, the supreme court reviewed the proposals and decided to create the nominating committee.
Comments should be submitted in writing no later than Feb. 18, 2002 and sent to the public affairs office of the state Judiciary, 417 S. King St., Room 206-C, Honolulu, HI, 96813-2914. The fax number is 539-4801. Comments can also be submitted through the Judiciary Web site: www.state.hi.us/jud
