42nd state karate meet scheduled for Sunday

The 42nd All-Hawai'i State Karate-Do Championships, with more than 1,000 participants from the United States, Japan, Australia and Pan Pacific countries — including national and world champions — will compete this Sunday at the Halawa District Park Gym.

The tournament includes individual/team kata (forms), kubudo (weapons), individual/team kumite (sparring).

ADVENTURE RACE

• Hawai'i team wins: The Hawai'i team of Jennifer Davis, Carol Jaxon and Lisa Reinke won the female division at last week's Balance Bar 24-Hour Adventure Race in Los Angeles.

The trio kayaked, mountain biked, trekked and rappelled to the finish line in 25 hours and 33 minutes.
