Three HPU players on All-Pacific Region team

Three Hawai'i Pacific University women's volleyball players were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association Division II All-Pacific Region team today.

Setter Nia Tuitele, a senior, was named to the 12-member all-region team for the third year in a row. Tuitele, a two-time All-American and this year's Pacific West Conference player of the year, recorded her fourth consecutive 1,000-assist season.

Roberta Robert, a senior outside hitter, was a unanimous All-Pacific West first team selection for the Sea Warriors, and led the conference in kills (4.93) and digs (3.75) per game.

Andrea Wean, a senior middle blocker, was also a unanimous All-Pacific West pick, leading the conference in attack percentage (.362).

Hawai'i Pacific, which won its third consecutive PacWest title, finished the season 19-5, losing in the NCAA Pacific Regional to Cal State San Bernadino.

The NCAA Division II Championships quarterfinals are Nov. 29-Dec. 1 at Grand Valley State at Allendale, Mich.

Barry (29-2) plays Western State (29-4), Lock Haven (28-12) takes on UC San Diego (24-6), Truman (37-1) plays South Dakota State (26-5), and Grand Valley State (28-4) plays host to Mercy (34-1).


Basketball

• Cal State San Bernardino 75, Brigham Young-Hawai'i 63: James Taylor had 21 points and 10 rebounds, leading the Coyotes over the Seasiders last night in the BYUH Thanksgiving Tournament at the Cannon Activities Center in La'ie.

The Coyotes are ranked No. 6 in NCAA Division II.

Dallas Jensen came off the bench to lead the Seasiders (2-2) with 17 points.

Alexus Foyle contributed 13 points and nine rebounds, and Keli'i Naihe added 10 points for Brigham Young-Hawai'i.

BYUH plays Metro State tonight at 7:30 in the second game of the three-team round-robin tournament.

San Bernardino takes on Metro State in tomorrow night's 7:30 p.m. finale.
